What is this?
The "originator" is an alphabetic or numeric value that determines from whom the message was sent (sender's name).
When you receive a text message, the phone always provides information about who the message was received from. In simpler words:
- The name of the company or product you are using
- The phone number of the person who sent it
Characters
The number of characters you can use as the sender name depends on whether it is a name or a number. This limitation is inherent in the SMS format, therefore, unfortunately, we cannot change this.
If you use the name of the company or brand as the name of the sender, the number of characters must be from 3 to 11.
If the sender’s name is a number, it can be up to 16 digits long.
Change the name or number from which the SMS comes
- Dashboard:
If you send directly from the Web interface, when sending a message, you will have the opportunity to enter the sender ID in the sender name field;
You can enter a number, name, or use a shared or dedicated virtual number (if you have a subscription in your account). You can also set the default sender name, which will be entered as the default name when sent from the control panel. - API:
If you send via an API, you just need to change the sender name parameter (originator).
