Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security method used for identity and access management. Its primary purpose is to safeguard user accounts against unauthorized access. This method involves the use of two distinct forms of validating the user's identity.
Typically, 2FA is implemented by sending a one-time password (OTP) to the user when they attempt to log in to their account. The OTP is sent to the mobile phone number associated with the user's account during the setup process. This additional step makes it extremely difficult for an intruder to gain access to the account, even if they manage to obtain the account details (such as login credentials and password).
